Herman Upmann was a German banker whose fondness for Habanos led him to settle in Havana in 1840. He founded a bank and a Habanos factory in 1844. The bank closed, but his Habanos brand persists today, considered an example within of the most refined Habanos with a strength of mild to medium in flavor.
